Heidi Lyda
Heidi L. Lyda is the director of the LYN (Love Your Neighbor) House.. Heidi has over seven years of teaching experience in early childhood special education and holds a masters degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in World Missions and Evangelism. Drawing from her educative background, Heidi has helped develop a variety of LYN House ministries designed to empower students, inspire volunteers, and strengthen the community. Some of these include a job readiness class for adults, monthly fellowship and community development projects, a tutoring program for neighborhood children, and the "express yourself" camps; which teaches children and youth art while instilling confidence and embracing a positive view of one’s circumstances. Heidi’s varied experiences in ministry, both local and international, have created in her a passion for social justice, racial reconciliation, and biblical hospitality.

Education Director
Emily Taylor
Emily Taylor is the Education Director. She supervises the tutoring program and coordinates volunteers. Emily has a degree in elementary education from Indiana University. She has taught in Namibia, Brazil, and the United States, instructing students in elementary grades, English as a Foreign Language, and middle school science. Emily has also been a nanny and a small business owner. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, games, and puzzles.

Tutoring Site Coordinator
Cathy DeVries
Cathy DeVries is the LYN House Tutoring Site Coordinator at URBAN ACT Academy. Cathy is responsible for leading the tutoring program at UAA for 1st and 2nd grade students who need extra help in reading and phonics skills. Cathy works alongside Heidi and Jessica to create lesson plans for the students, as well as tutors students and manages the volunteer tutors at UAA. Cathy and her husband, Kevin, serve as the Pastors at Indy First Church. They have 3 teenage children and 1 bonus daughter. Cathy loves ministering God’s love through word and deed. She also loves being a mom and spending time with her family.
